Study Leader

Marian Downing

Marian is a certified Precept Bible Study leader and has been for almost 20 years. She has been leading a Precept Upon Precept Bible Study for over 15 years and has also led numerous other studies using some of the many other formats of study that Precept Ministries produces.  Studying the Bible inductively brings God's Word to life and provides an understanding of scripture that produces spiritual growth and a deepening of your personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Participating in a group study provides accountability, encouragement and the opportunity to share and help others grow as they discuss what God reveals in their personal study time.


Who We Are

The Zanesville Precept Bible Women’s Bible study group has both in-person and on-line groups who meet weekly to study God’s word using Precept Upon Precept Bible study materials.  The in-person group meets on Thursday evenings in the conference room at the Zanesville Airport.  The three on-line groups meet via Zoom.  All groups meet for two hours at each meeting and spend the first hour discussing the lesson that was studied the previous week.  During the second hour, the group watches the teaching video that correlates to that week’s study.  All of the groups are led by Marian Downing. 

What We Study

We use bible studies produced by Precept Ministries International.  Precept studies are based on the inductive bible study method. They have several different levels of study, but the one we use in our Ladies Bible Study is Precept Upon Precept.  Precept Upon Precept Bible Studies are in-depth, inductive studies in an easy-to-follow, daily format that takes approximately one hour per day.  When you're ready to intimately understand the whole counsel of God, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, you're ready for Precept Upon Precept Precept's Vision is for people who are established in God's Word to live as exemplary followers of Jesus Christ, studying the Bible inductively, viewing the world biblically, making disciples intentionally and serving the Church faithfully in the power of the Holy Spirit.
